August 27, 2025: Community Feedback BBQ
Saint Luke’s Foundation has begun the journey of designing a new headquarters that is welcoming, accessible, and deeply rooted in the community it serves in August 2025. As a first step, we hosted a “Meet Your Neighbor BBQ” near the proposed site, bringing together more than 100 residents for food, conversation, and connection.
Engagement 1: Community Feedback BBQ
Through over 50 recorded conversations, neighbors shared what matters most to them. The following themes will heavily prioritized in th development of the new Saint Luke's building. Seven key themes emerged:
- Welcoming and belonging
- Community gathering
- Youth and family engagement
- Safety and accessibility
- Honoring neighborhood identity and history
- Green space and wellness
- Everyday practicality
These insights will directly shape the architect selection process and guide the design of the building.
Residents expressed a strong desire for a space that reflects their culture and history, fosters connection, feels safe and open, supports families, and meets real daily needs. Their voices make clear that this project must not just create a building, but build a true community place.
